France-based video coaching service CoachClub has raised €5m ($7m) from a consortium including local phone operator France Telecom’s corporate venturing unit, Innovacom.
The other investor was venture capital firm Serena Capital.
CoachClub has 100,000 members since starting in January last year and will use the money to expand outside of France.
Thierry Pépin, executive chairman and founder of CoachClub, said: "Using the funds raised, CoachClub will consolidate its presence in France with considerable investments in marketing. Subsequently, we intend to develop on an international scale, particularly in the English-speaking markets: the UK and the US, where we are planning to launch our services in early 2012."
Frédéric Humbert, partner at Innovacom, said: "CoachClub’s development and its ability to pre-empt the growing market of well-being and sports coaching on video look set to establish it as a key player, and are a sign that a broad public will subscribe to it, aided by multi-access deployment – as shows the interest already shown by a large number of brands today."
Clipperton Finance advised CoachClub.
