US-based mobile advertising services company JiWire has raised $20m in its series C round from a consortium including cable company Comcast’s corporate venturing unit.
Alongside Comcast Interactive Capital in the round were venture capital firms Trident Capital, which led the round, and DFJ Frontier, Norwest Venture Partners and Panorama Capital.
The company has raised $45m in total, including $11m in its B round in April 2009.
The C round will help the company develop its technology, buy peers, such as its acquisition of NearbyNow, and expand internationally, having entered the UK last year through a partnership with local phone operator British Telecom to cover more than 4,000 locations.
