Time Warner Cable has joined the series C round consortium investing $27m in BlackArrow, a US-based provider of video advertising.
Joan Gillman, president of media sales for Time Warner Cable, joins the BlackArrow board.
She said: "BlackArrow has played an invaluable role in accelerating dynamic VOD ad insertion and is well positioned to be a growing part of the ad ecosystem."
In November, mobile phone company Motorola joined the investment consortium in BlackArrow to extend the company’s $20m series C round closed in April last year.
Motorola Ventures invested an undisclosed amount on behalf of Motorola Mobility, the mobile phone, cable set-top and broadband equipment entity split off in January from Motorola Solutions, which covers enterprise, government and public-safety business units.
Motorola and BlackArrow will develop advertising for set-top boxes and mobile devices, as well as cloud-based, hosted video services and internet video delivery.
BlackArrow’s other investors include the corporate venturing units of cable group Comcast, computer server group Cisco Systems, semiconductor company Intel, and set-top box maker NDS Group as well as venture capital firm Mayfield Fund and Polaris Venture Partners.
Prior to the C round, BlackArrow had raised $58m, including $20m in June 2008.
