800App gains power from Salesforce

China-based software-as-a-service company 800App closed its series B round on Wednesday, having raised an undisclosed amount of funding from US-based enterprise cloud computing company Salesforce.com and venture capital (VC) firm Sierra Ventures.

Sierra and fellow VC firm Ivy Capital previously contributed to 800App’s series A round, which raised $17m in May 2009. The B round will be invested in furthering the presence of 800App’s business software in China.

800App’s customer relationship management (CRM) software helps companies automate their sales management and facilitate customer service, providing a similar service to that of Salesforce. 800App customers include China Mobile, NEC China and China Life Insurance.

George Li, chief executive officer of 800App, said: "800App has successfully built a software-as-a-service business while maintaining its mission to create an on-demand business information management service to displace traditional business software business."
