Technology Strategy Board recruits BT veteran

Mike Carr, British Telecom´s Chief Science Officer until November 2008, became a director of the Technology Strategy Board, a UK government agency, yesterday.

Carr, a 36-year veteran of the UK telecommunications company, has joined the Technology Strategy Board along with three other members, Colin Paynter, chief executive of Astrium, an aerospace company, Ian Shott, managing director of Shott Consulting, a consultancy, and Robert Sorrell, UK-listed energy company BP´s vice president for public partnerships.

Carr was responsible for BT’s corporate venturing activities as well as its research and commercial exploitation unit. He oversaw the spinning out of 14 start-ups from BT.
