Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit for semiconductor manufacturer Intel, invested NT$300m ($9.9m) in Taiwan-based firmware and software engineering company Insyde Software on Tuesday.

The funding was originally announced on 14th November as part of an investment worth $40m Intel put towards a total of ten companies across Asia, but at the time was yet to be finalised.

Insyde has a long running relationship with Intel, which previously made investments in Insyde in 1999, 2001 and 2004. The two firms also signed a joint development agreement in 2001 to develop coding technology.

Additionally, Insyde has participated in several of Intel Capital’s Technology Days, which seek to link portfolio companies with senior figures in markets they are seeking to enter.

Doug Fisher, corporate vice president and general manager of the Software and Services Group’s within Intel’s systems software division, said: "Intel is pleased to announce our collaboration with Insyde Software to help drive additional software innovation for Intel platforms. Insyde’s computing solutions optimised for Intel architecture will bring increased value to our shared customers."
