UK-based satellite antenna technology developer Isotropic Systems has raised $14m in a series A round led by aerospace manufacturer Boeing’s corporate venturing unit, HorizonX Ventures.
Angel investment group Space Angels also participated in the round, as did Waterlow Management and Space Capital. The company had previously received $1m in a 2016 round and $5m a year later, with Waterlow leading both rounds.
Founded in 2013, Isotropic is designing and developing terminals that enable satellites to communicate with each other.
The antennas are intended to provide unlimited low-cost bandwidth to customers in industries such as aerospace, transportation, commercial maritime, railway and military defence, as well for consumer terminals and existing wireless networks.
Isotropic will work with space and satellite technology developers Myriota, BridgeSat and Accion Systems, all of which are HorizonX portfolio companies, to help develop its technology post-investment.
Brian Schettler, managing director of Boeing HorizonX Ventures, said: “Isotropic’s solution allows for increased capabilities at reduced costs for satellite service providers.
“This investment accelerates the expansion of space-based connectivity services to the mass market and continues Boeing’s leadership in space innovation.”
