Corporates Cisco, TE Connectivity, Qualcomm as well as Intel Capital have backed UK-based small electronic cell company ip.access’s $15m round.
Chipmaker Qualcomm, computer networking corporation Cisco, New York Stock Exchange-listed technology company TE Connectivity, and the corporate venturing unit of chipmaker Intel were joined in the round by venture firms Amadeus Capital Partners, Scottish Equity Partners as well as Rothschild & Cie Gestion, the asset management arm of the Rothschild Group.
Tyco Electronics and Motorola Ventures are also prior backers of ip.access.
Cisco made an undisclosed investment in the company in January 2008. It received an undisclosed funding round in February 2007, which it said was aimed at growing the company from $25m in annual revenues to more than $100m. In March 2006, the company raised £8.5m ($13.3m).
ip.access was founded in 1999 as a spin-out from TTPCom, a subsidiary of then UK-listed TTP Communications, which was acquired by Motorola in 2006.
