Footwear retailer Foot Locker has led a $19.5m series C round for Rockets of Awesome, a US-based children’s clothing subscription service, TechCrunch reported yesterday.

Foot Locker contributed $12.5m to the round that also included participation from Burda Principal Investments, the corporate venturing arm of media group Hubert Burda, as well as August Capital, Forerunner Ventures, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, ACM and SignalFire.

Founded in 2015, Rockets of Awesome delivers personalised boxes of children’s apparel based on the results of a short survey taken by the parent about their offspring’s style preferences.

The parents and children can then sort through the clothing and send back what they do not want.

As part of the investment, Foot Locker will stock the company’s clothing range in its Kids Foot Locker stores and will begin to sell Rockets of Awesome merchandise on its website.

In 2017, Rockets of Awesome raised $12.5m in series A round that included August Capital as well as existing investors Forerunner Ventures and General Catalyst.

Forerunner and General Catalyst has previously joined Female Founders Fund and Launch Incubator to back the company with $7m in seed funding.
