Customer relationship management software producer Salesforce agreed yesterday to acquire portfolio company MapAnything, a US-based geolocation and mapping technology provider, for an undisclosed amount.
Founded in 2009, MapAnything has developed location-based software that helps businesses manage mobile workers and create routes for commercial fleet operators.
The platform integrates mapping, asset tracking, geo-analytics, real-time traffic updates, weather forecasts and construction plan tools, enabling employees to automatically schedule client meetings based on location.
MayAnything supplies the technology to Salesforce users through the Salesforce AppExchange, as part of the corporate’s Salesforce ISV Partner Program.
Salesforce said in a statement: “The addition of MapAnything to Salesforce will help the world’s leading brands accurately plan how many people they need, where to put them, how to make them as productive as possible, how to track what’s being done in real time and what they can learn to improve going forward.”
The company had received $7.3m in series A funding from Salesforce’s corporate venturing arm, Salesforce Ventures, in addition to Greycroft, Harbert Venture Partners and angel investors Michael Lazerow and David Stern.
MapAnything went on to raise $33.1m from Salesforce Ventures and ServiceNow Ventures, the investment arm of enterprise software provider ServiceNow, as well as Greycroft, Harbert Venture Partners, Columbus Nova, Lazerow and Stern in a February 2017 series B round.
GM Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of carmaker General Motors, subsequently joined Salesforce Ventures, Greycroft, Harbert, Stern and Andrew Leto in $42.5m series C round for the company in November 2018.
