US-based cloud computing company Tibco Software has today helped Wayin, a US-based social engagement company partly set up by Scott McNealy, founder of computing company Sun Microsystems, raise $14m.
Wayin allows users to network and post pictures and questions.
The series B funding was also backed by venture firm US Venture Partners and law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati. Individual investors included businessman Burt Sugarman, Michael Meldman, chief executive of Discovery Land Company, a real estate development firm, Ben Van de Bundt, co-chief executive of Gunthy-Renker, a direct response television company, Doug Burgum, software entrepreneur, Greg Jamison, president of Jamison Entertainment Group, Jim Gray, a sportscaster, Christian Lawless, an investor in global technology & media assets, and others.
The company has raised $20m in its history and it was founded in 2010 by McNealy and investor Scott Johnston.
McNealy was head of Sun for 28 years until it was taken over by software company Oracle in 2009 for $7.4bn.
