Citi Ventures backs InvestLab

Citi Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of US bank Citigroup, has helped trading software company InvestLab raise $10m.

Citi Ventures led the series A round alongside VantagePoint Capital Partners. Melissa Guzy,  a VantagePoint managing director, has joined InvestLab’s board.

Wei Hopeman, Citi Ventures’ Asia managing director, said: "The  Citi  Ventures team helps to foster emerging technologies by investing in ventures  that potentially can transform the financial services industry, help our clients reach their goals, and generate new value for Citi. We are supporting InvestLab because we believe it will help change the way people use technology to manage their investments."

InvestLab’s products include Tradepop, a social investing website that analyses sentiment, and Mix, an enterprise level trading platform.

The company previously raised $1m in seed funding when it launched in 2010 from investors including venture firm Solution Access, run by principals Mark Gibbs, former president of SAP North Asia, Leigh Warren, former managing director of Oracle Australia and New Zealand,  and Douglas Jaffe, former Asia Pacific research director at Financial Insights, a financial technology advisory business, which is part of IDC.
