ClearStory Data, a US-based data analysis start-up, has raised an undisclosed amount from a syndicate including search engine Google’s corporate venturing unit.
Alongside Google Ventures in the seed round were venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Khosla Ventures and angels.
These angels include Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaraman, who founded Kosmix and sold it to retailer Wal-Mart for $300m after their first company, Junglee, was acquired by online retailer Amazon in 1998.
The three founders of ClearStory, Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan, John Cieslewicz and Vaibhav Nivargi, previously worked at big data provider Aster Data before its acquisition last year by peer Teradata.
