Canada-based bus rental platform operator Bus.com has received C$19.5m ($14.9m) in a series B round that featured BMW i Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of automotive manufacturer BMW, Betakit reported today.
Venture capital firm Autotech Ventures and investment firm Cycle Capital Management co-led the round, investing alongside Jackson Square Ventures, Real Ventures, Y Combinator and BDC Capital.
Founded in 2015, Bus.com, formerly called ShareTheBus, operates an online platform that enables users to plan and book charter buses for trips to musical festivals or for company retreats. The company will increase its headcount following the round.
Kyle Boulay, co-founder and chief executive at Bus.com, said: “Building a world-class product takes a lot of effort and expertise. We’re pleased to partner with leading investors who have strong operating backgrounds, which enables us to continue to strengthen and build our team.”
Jackson Square previously led the company’s $5m series A round in 2017, investing alongside BMW i Ventures, Real Ventures and Y Combinator.
The company, which graduated from Lazaridis Institute’s ScaleUp Program, previously raised approximately $2.3m from Real Ventures, Y Combinator, FounderFuel, Fondation Montreal and Maple Leaf Angels.
