India-based digital content company Pocket Aces has received $14.7m in funding from investors including semiconductor technology producer DSP Group, DealStreetAsia reported yesterday.
Venture capital firms Sequoia Capital and 3one4 Capital also took part in the round, as did undisclosed additional investors.
Founded in 2013, Pocket Aces hosts original video content that is distributed through YouTube channels catering to a millennial audience. It uses artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to track what is popular among audiences before using that data to create shows.
The company recently expanded into the gaming market with the acquisition of Loco, the creator of a livestreamed quiz game, in January this year.
Pocket Aces co-founder Aditi Shrivastava told DealStreetAsia its shows are currently hitting 500 million views per month, a figure it aims to double by 2020.
In addition to expanding its gaming content, the company plans to use the proceeds from the round will to fund more strategic acquisitions while increasing its output to 30 shows a year.
Sequoia Capital led a $3m round for the company in 2016, participating alongside North Base Media, Aarin Capital, Axilor Ventures and private investors Kunal Shah and Sandeep Tandon.
