Jonny Crowe (pictured), head of European operations for South Africa-based media group Naspers’ corporate venturing unit, will leave the company.
Crowe has spent 18 months as head of operations at MIH Europe after two and a half years as head of mergers and acquisitions for the group and Naspers in Europe.
Crowe said by email: "I am leaving the Naspers group shortly to pursue other projects."
Naspers has traditionally invested outside of developed markets, after its success backing China-based media group Tencent, which has a market capitalisation of $50bn.
In Europe, Naspers has backed companies such as Turkey-based Markafoni, the second most-visited members-only shopping network in the world. Last year, Naspers bought 71% of three-year-old Markafoni for about $200m.
This followed online auctioneer Ebay increasing its minority ownership in Turkey’s Gittigidiyor to 93% and internet retailer Amazon buying 18% of Ciceksepeti.com, an online florist founded by Emre Aydin, a former consultant at software group SAP.
