Mitsubishi takes care of SastaSundar

Japan-headquartered diversified trading group Mitsubishi Corporation has agreed to invest Rs 1bn ($13.9m) in India-based online healthcare platform operator SastaSundar Healthbuddy, according to a stock exchange filing.

Founded in 2011, SastaSundar runs an online portal where users can access a range of health products and services including medicine, diagnostic testing, wellness products and counselling.

Banwari Lal Mittal, SastaSundar founder and chairman, said: “The global experience of Mitsubishi corporation will help us to scale our business and, between us, there is a match of mission of social objective behind business. This is a solid partnership for the future and for making the life of millions – healthy and happy.”

SastaSundar said in a statement that it had previously received $9.8m from parent company SastaSundar Ventures, formerly known as Microsec Financial Services, and medical goods producer Rohto Pharmaceutical, before the latter provided another $5m in May 2017.
