China-based pet food and care product supplier Furrytail has raised RMB80m ($11.2m) in series A and A-plus rounds led by consumer electronics producer Xiaomi, 36Kr has reported.
Xiaomi invested through its corporate venturing arm, Xiaomi Ventures, while Morningside Venture Capital and Volcanics Venture also contributed to the rounds.
Founded in 2017, Furrytail designs and customises pet products, focusing on cat owners. It sells items such as cat food, litter, toys and other accessories in regions that also include Europe, the Americas, Oceania and Southeast Asia.
The company has sold 35,000 smart feeders on Xiaomi’s e-commerce platform, Youpin, achieving nearly $850,000 in sales. It estimates it will record approximately $16.8m in revenue this year.
Furrytail had previously received approximately $1.45m in angel funding from Morningside Capital, which returned for a subsequent eight-digit renminbi (RMB10m = $1.5m) pre-series A round, investing with Volcanics Venture, according to 36Kr.
