Bitbar Technologies, the Finland-based software development tool provider backed by mobile chip producer Qualcomm, has been bought by software engineering products supplier SmartBear Software for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2009, Bitbar has created a platform where software developers can test web and mobile-based apps to measure their performance on different operating systems, smartphone models and screen sizes.
SmartBear will use the acquisition to enrich its own web-based software testing offering, dubbed CrossBrowserTesting.
Bitbar raised $3m in 2013 from Qualcomm’s corporate venturing subsidiary, Qualcomm Ventures, in addition to Finnish state-backed fund Tekes, Creathor Ventures, DFJ Esprit and Finnvera Venture Capital. The same investors, barring Tekes, joined Inventure to invest an undisclosed amount in the company in 2015.
