US-based power utility Emerson has promoted Thurston Cromwell to vice-president of corporate development.
The moves comes after Cromwell had spent four years as director of development at Emerson and his role now combines corporate venture capital with mergers and acquisitions activities.
Cromwell said: “We primarily look for opportunities to partner with leading VC firms to serve as a strategic partner in early-stage rounds in interesting industrial tech companies. I facilitate investments that are sponsored by our business units and with each investment they commit to foster mentor the portfolio business on a formal or informal basis.
“This allows us to help support the success of the portfolio company while we obtain valuable learnings associated with new technologies and markets. When we partner with top-tier VC firms leading rounds, we always promise to never take any position or seek any rights that are contrary to the collective interests of all other financial investors in our round.”
