Internet group NetEase has invested an undisclosed amount in Canada-based video game developer Behaviour Interactive through its NetEase Games subsidiary.
Behaviour Interactive develops games in collaboration with entertainment industry partners such as Activision Blizzard, Disney, DreamWorks, Microsoft, Pixar, Sony, Ubisoft and Warner. Its library includes Dead by Daylight, a survival horror game that has sold more than 5 million copies.
Interactive entertainment producer Gaea Interactive had paid an undisclosed amount for a 20% stake in the company in October 2018 in connection with a strategic partnership agreement. They are already co-developing a game based on TV show Game of Thrones.
Rémi Racine, Behaviour Interactive’s president and executive producer, said: “At Behaviour, we are continuously looking for opportunities to accelerate growth by investing in research and development for new and innovative games for our players and in the recruitment of exceptional talent.
“As an industry leader in online games, NetEase brings highly reputable R&D and operational capabilities and experience that we believe will drive sustainable, long-term growth well into the future.”
