Optimizely clicks with Google

US-based search engine Google’s corporate venturing unit has helped Optimizely, a US-based website testing company, raise its latest round.

Google Ventures was joined in the round by venture firms Battery Ventures and InterWest Partners. Optimizely said its level of adoption by the top 10000 global websites was higher than Google Website Optimizer and added it was "on pace to surpass" Omniture Test & Target later this year, another rival.

The company said it has more than 2000 enterprises using its platform and it has grown its revenues 1266% year on year as well as hitting profitability.

Optimizely raised $1.2 million in angel funding in 2010, from individuals, Ron Conway, Chris Sacca, Steve Chen, Paul Buchheit, Ashton Kutcher, Mitch Kapor, Chris Dixon, Joshua Schachter, Naval Ravikant, Ram Shriram, Ariel Poler, Aydin Senkut, Brian Sugar, Deep Nishar, Sam Altman, Steve Huffman, Nils Johnson, Jonathan Heiliger, Keval Desai, Elad Gil,  and Avichal Garg, according to news provider TechCrunch.

Optimizely graduated from incubator YCombinator in the winter of 2010. It was set up by former Google product managers Dan Siroker and Pete Koomen. Sirokers was the firector of analytics during the Obama 2008 presidential campaign.
