Alereon, a wireless LCD monitor company backed by Korea-based conglomerate Samsung’s corporate venturing unit and South Korea Telecom, has raised $6m.
The round was led by venture firm Enhanced Capital Partners, with backing from venture firms Pharos Capital Partners and Duchossois Technology Partners.
The company said the funds would allow it to expand its wireless monitor docking station technology used in products such as the Samsung Central Station and the newly introduced Samsung Smart Station and to develop new products.
Alereon won $3m backing from SK Telecom in 2008. This followed the company receiving a $4m investment from Samsung Ventures in 2006.
The company series B was increased to $42m in 2007, according to this SEC filing. Its series A round was increased to $41.4m in 2005, according to another filing.
The series B was led by venture firm Austin Ventures, with backing from venture firm Centennial Ventures and Pharos Capital.
The Series A round was also led by Austin Ventures with participation from s Pharos Capital, Centennial Ventures, as well as venture firms Kinetic Ventures, eCentury Capital, Duchossois Technology Partners, PTV Sciences and other investors.
