Recruit, a Japan-based recruitment industry company, has backed Wowzer, a video screening and interviewing company ,in a strategic investment on June 5.
DCM, an early stage venture capital firm, led Wowzer’s prior funding round.
David Chao, co-founder and general partner at DCM, who serves on the board of directors at Wowzer, previously worked at Recruit. He also is on the board of 51job, China’s largest HR recruiting services provider.
Masumi Minegishi, chief executive of Recruit, said: “Video screening will be a key factor in recruitment efforts around the globe. By investing in the technology at Wowzer, we have an important hand in contributing to that trend. We look forward to working with the Wowzer team in further innovating the recruitment process.”
Wowzer rebranded to its present name from OVIA, at the same time as announcing the investment. Wowzer said it now had “a more memorable, fun name indicative of the engaging candidate experience the company provides.”
