US-based financial and regulatory technology developer Securrency has attracted $17.7m in a series A round featuring financial trading services and brokerage group Monex.
Exchange-traded fund manager WisdomTree Investments led the round, which also featured sovereign wealth fund Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, venture capital firm RRE Ventures, VC partnership Strawberry Creek Ventures and investment firm Panthera Capital Partners.
Founded in 2015, Securrency has created a platform that allows banks and financial exchange operators to integrate distributed ledger technology into their existing systems, enhancing interoperability, compliance and user identification in digital asset trading.
WisdomTree has formed a partnership with Securrency in conjunction with its investment and will implement the company’s technology into its own exchange-traded fund activities.
Securrency raised $2.3m in debt and equity financing across four rounds between 2016 and early 2018 according to regulatory filings. Its existing investors include Ark Fund.
