ETV backs On-Ramp

Energy Technology Ventures, which is backed by US-based corporates GE, NRG Energy and ConocoPhillips, has backed On-Ramp Wireless’ series C round.

On-Ramp said last month $10.1m of a planned $30m round had been raised, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Kevin Skillern, GE Energy Financial Services’ managing director of venture capital, said:  “With its ULP technology, On-Ramp Wireless can support numerous applications that were previously cost-prohibitive to integrate with communications technology. This enables a new class of wireless automation software services for the energy industry. We also believe there is significant potential to apply the technology in other infrastructure segments.”

On-Ramp is a participant in GE’s $20 million ecomagination Accelerator program, which is an offshoot of the $200m ecomagination Challenge.

Last year On-Ramp raised $11.5m of a planned $14.7m round, according to another SEC filing.

In 2010 the company raised $4.5m of a planned $18m filing

In 2007 the company raised $4.2m in debt and convertible securities, according to another filing.
