Access Industries punches out $10m for Songkick

Conglomerate Access Industries has invested $10m in US-based music event ticketing platform Songkick, six months after participating in a $16m series C round for the company.

Songkick operates an online ticketing and concert discovery platform, and merged with CrowdSurge, a company that enables artists to sell tickets directly to consumers, in June this year.

The merger formed a company that in 2015 worked with artists such as Adele, Metallica, Jamie xx and J.Cole to sell tickets, reducing the number of unsold tickets for their concerts.

The company’s technology also powers concert listings on media services such as Deezer, MTV, Pitchfork and SoundCloud.

Songkick raised $16m in funding from Access, Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures at the time of the merger, adding to $17m previously secured from Sequoia, Index, Y Combinator, SoftTech and The Accelerator Group.
