China-based video portal AcFun has raised $60m in a series B round led by Softbank China Venture Capital, the local investment vehicle of Japan-based telecoms firm Softbank, China Money Network reported on Thursday.
Founded in 2007, AcFun operates a video sharing platform that also displays live comments from other viewers. The company’s offering mainly consists of animated films, music, sports and games.
The other investors in the round were not disclosed. AcFun has not revealed details about where it will direct the funding..
Video streaming platform Youku Tudou provided $50m in series A capital for AcFun in August 2015 as part of a corporate strategy to shift towards original content production.
