ActiveCampaign racks up $100m

Susquehanna Growth Equity (SGE), a subsidiary of quantitative trading and technology group Susquehanna International Group, led a $100m series B round for US-based customer experience software provider ActiveCampaign yesterday.

The round also featured Silversmith Capital Partners, the growth equity firm that supplied $20m in series A funding for ActiveCampaign in 2016. Lazard was financial adviser on the latest deal.

Founded in 2003, ActiveCampaign has created a software platform that uses machine learning technology to automate customer experience on behalf of businesses.

The platform combines email marketing and marketing automation tools with customer relationship management software, enabling personalised marketing to be delivered across a variety of channels including email, social media, messaging and chat.

Jason VandeBoom, ActiveCampaign’s founder and CEO, said: “This additional capital gives us the flexibility to continue to quickly adapt to our customers’ needs in a very dynamic market while remaining focused on long-term investments in our core platform. I have built a relationship with SGE over the last three years and knew this was the right fit.”

SGE partner Martin Angert is joining the company’s board of directors in connection with the round. He added: “ActiveCampaign is blazing a trail in the customer experience market while running a rapidly growing and sustainable business.

“It already has the talent, experience and international footprint to be the leader in customer experience automation.”
