AdaSky adds $15m in series B round

Israel-based automotive safety technology provider AdaSky has raised $15m in series B funding from automotive components manufacturers Kyocera and Sungwoo Hitech.

AdaSky produces high-resolution thermal imaging systems designed to help autonomous cars identify and track pedestrians and other vehicles. It will use the cash to further develop its manufacturing capabilities as it looks to shift toward mass production.

Sungwoo Hitech had previously invested $20m in the company in November 2018, and it also identified Kyocera as an existing shareholder.

Mun Yong Lee, Sungwoo Hitech’s president, said: “Drivers cannot rely on current [advanced driver assistant systems] to prevent collisions, especially when it concerns pedestrians at night.”

Tayo Hamano, general manager of Kyocera’s corporate management promotion group, added: “We are proud to take part and support AdaSky in its journey to lead the thermal imaging revolution for a safer world.”
