Adbrain devises $7.5m series B

UK-based advertising data intelligence business Adbrain raised $7.5m on Wednesday in a series B round featuring Cisco Investments, the corporate venturing unit for network technology provider Cisco.

Existing investors Notion Capital and Octopus Ventures, the venture capital arm of asset management firm Octopus Investments, also took part in the round.

Adbrain uses big data to help marketers follow their potential customers as they switch between multiple devices, channels and platforms.

The funding will enable the company, which maintains offices in London, New York and San Francisco, to expand internationally and further product development.

Adbrain’s previous funding came from a $1.5m seed round led by Notion Capital in 2013, and a $7.5m series A round in March 2014 that was led by Octopus Ventures.

The funding was announced in conjunction with the appointment of big data and cybersecurity specialist Jason Atlas as Adbrain’s chief technology officer. His previous employers include Microsoft, Bloomberg and startups including Internet Identity.
