US-based crop protection product developer AgriMetis has closed a $23.5m series B round that included agribusiness Syngenta and life sciences real estate developer Alexandria Real Estate Equities.
The corporates, which participated through their Syngenta Ventures and Alexandria Venture Investments units, were joined by Anterra Capital, which led the oversubscribed round, biotech innovation company Acidophil and RA Capital Management.
AgriMetis was formed in early 2014 with $10m of series A funding provided by Acidophil and Syngenta Ventures. It is working on sustainable crop protection products and will put the series B funding toward new technology.
Steve Tuttle, president and chief executive of AgriMetis, said: “We are excited to have the support of such a valued group of existing and new investors as part of the AgriMetis team.
“The proceeds from this financing will allow us to continue to expand the discovery, development and delivery of new innovative agriculture crop protection products.”
