US-based artificial intelligence technology startup AI Foundation received $17m yesterday in a series B round that included marketing technology company You and Mr Jones.
The coprorate was joined by Alpha Edison, Founders Fund, Mousse Partners, private investor Biz Stone and undisclosed other investors.
Founded in 2017, AI Foundation is developing a misinformation detection tool dubbed Reality Defender, which leverages AI algorithms to identify manipulated online content including deepfakes.
The company also runs a nonprofit and research and development scheme meant to serve as a liaison among AI-focused industry, academic and philanthropic entities.
You and Mr Jones’ Brandtech Ventures unit took part in a $10m round for AI Foundation in September 2018 alongside Biz Stone, Founders Fund, Abstract Ventures and Correlation Ventures. Its earlier backers also include MaC Venture Capital.
