China-based spatial data technology developer Airlook has secured RMB100m ($14.5m) in series B-plus funding from investors including internet group Baidu, China Money Network has reported.
Investment firm Guangfa Qianhe Investments led the round, which also featured asset manager Ivy Capital and venture capital firm GGV Capital. Baidu participated through its Baidu Ventures subsidiary.
Founded in 2015, Airlook provides 3D mapping services, relying on data captured by unmanned aerial vehicles and processed by its software platform.
The company has captured data on 30,000 kilometres of terrain and mapped 18 cities throughout China and aims to map out more than 20 other Chinese cities in early 2020. The funding will allow it to construct 3D real-world maps.
Airlook raised $7.2m in a late 2018 series B round led by GGV Capital that included Baidu Ventures. Baidu had already supplied an undisclosed amount of series A-plus funding for the company the previous year.
