Baris Aksoy has left AV8, a venture capital fund backed by German insurance and financial services multinational Allianz, where he worked for five years.

Aksoy joined AV8 from Google, where he worked for three years from 2016, first as an M&A integration lead and then in strategic business development. He came to Google when it acquired Anvato, a US tech company that provided cloud computing for the video streaming industry, where Aksoy worked as CFO.

At AV8, Aksoy was general partner, sourcing deals and sitting on the boards of some of the fund’s portfolio companies, including Cerby, a US startup that automates identity checks for app access.

AV8 was launched in 2018. It targets startups across sectors including healthcare, financial services, and deep tech. It’s second fund, established in 2021, is $180m.

In May, AV8 took part in the $35m series B funding round for Hydrolix, a US data management and analytics startup. Aksoy has been a board member of Hydrolix since 2020.

Also in May, it took part in the $13m series A funding round for CoverTree, an insuretech startup focusing on home insurance provision.
