Khalid Al-Nasser has been made senior principal of corporate venture capital at Elm, a Saudi IT company.

He joined Elm in 2021, working as a principal for three-and-a-half years until the recent promotion. Before that, he was CEO of Elva, a US startup he cofounded, which makes a remote medication tracker and emergency device for patients with chronic conditions.

Elm is a Saudi state-run company established in 1988 which provides consultancy services and digital products for performing security checks. Its CVC activities target technology startups in the Middle East and North Africa region, covering sectors including IT, real estate, fintech, health tech, proptech, logistics and infrastructure.

In March, it led the $2.5m seed funding round for Youverify, a financial services startup helping companies with anti-money laundering compliance. In September, it took part in the $40m series C funding round for Syarah, a Saudi online car marketplace, and the $2m seed funding round for Reachware, a Saudi data integration platform.
