AllinMD aligns with Tencent in $100m round

China-based online hospital operator AllinMD Orthopaedics Hospital has completed a $100m series B round that included internet group Tencent, Kr-Asia reported yesterday.

The round was co-led by venture capital firm H Capital and Sheares, a healthcare-focused holding company owned by Singaporean government investment firm Temasek, and it included growth equity firm Trustbridge Partners.

Originally founded in 2013 as an online platform where orthopaedic doctors could train, AllinMD has since expanded to an online-based platform where orthopaedic patients can access more than 150,000 registered physicians across some 17,000 hospitals.

Carers can still use the platform for training in addition to clinical research and information from other practitioners, but in addition to offering access to care through an online portal, AllinMD has also opened two brick-and-mortar health centres.

The series B funds will support the opening of additional hospitals in addition to the expansion of the service to encompass more rural doctors and the strengthening of AllinMD’s big data and artificial intelligence technology capabilities.

The company had previously raised a total of $37.7m across its series A and series A-plus rounds as of October 2017, according to Jiemodui.
