Alloy Digital, a US-based operator of youth-focused websites and television channels, has raised $30m from a consortium including private equity firm ZelnickMedia.
Other investors included venture capital firms ABS Capital Partners and Fuse Capital, which has invested on behalf of electronics retailer Best Buy.
Since July 2011, Alloy said it had bought five content companies: Generate, B5 Media, Clevver Media, the Escapist and Smosh, which has had more than two billion views on video channel YouTube.
In June 2010, ZelnickMedia and other investors paid $126.5m to de-list Alloy from the Nasdaq stock exchange.
