Enterprise software producer Atlassian exited US-based collaboration tool developer Cloud9 on Thursday following the company’s acquisition by e-commerce and cloud services firm Amazon for an undisclosed sum.
Cloud9’s collaboration tool enables developers to remotely work together on web and mobile applications. Users can see each other type and generate live previews of their apps in the browser without the need for additional software.
The company will become part of Amazon’s cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS). It will develop new features to take advantage of AWS, but will continue to make its offering available to external customers.
Cloud9 had previously secured an undisclosed sum in 2014 from venture capital firm Balderton Capital, following a $5.55m series A round in 2011 backed by Atlassian and VC firm Atlas Venture.
