E-commerce company Amazon has taken a minority stake in China-based fresh food delivery service Yummy77 in return for a $20m investment, according to TechNode.
Launched in 2013, Yummy77 allows customers in China to order fresh food online and have it delivered to their homes. It operates a similar model to an Amazon service called Amazon Fresh, which delivers online ordered foods to customers in the US.
As reported by TechNode, Yummy77’s sales in December 2013 were in excess of RMB 100m ($16m). Yummy77 is the business-to-customer division of TRUE, itself a subsidiary of Thailand-based agribusiness Chia Tai Group.
