Cozy, the US-based operator of an online property leasing platform, has closed an $8.45m series B round led by American Family Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of insurance firm American Family.
American Family was joined by all of Cozy’s series A investors, which include General Catalyst Partners, Seven Peaks Ventures, Social Capital and angel investors Stewart Butterfield and Jason Calacanis.
Founded in 2012, Cozy has built a platform that enables landlords to list their properties, receive applications from prospective tenants, screen them and collect rent after they have moved into the property.
The funding will be used by Cozy to add new features to its offering, including two that will be directed specifically at renters. It also intends to expand its product management, data science, design and engineering teams.
Cozy has now raised more than $18m altogether, initially securing $1.5m in a 2012 seed round featuring GV, a corporate venturing subsidiary of internet technology group Alphabet, and Social Capital, under their previous names of Google Ventures and Social+Capital Partnership.
The company subsequently raised an initial $5m in series A funding in late 2013 before adding $3.4m in August 2015.
