US-based data analytics provider Amplitude, backed by internet company Tencent, closed a $15m series B round yesterday led by VC firm Battery Ventures, TechCrunch has reported.
Benchmark, Data Collective, Merus Capital and Quest Venture Partners also took part in the round. Benchmark previously led a $9m series A round in August 2015 with participation from Quest, Data Collective, Merus and assorted angel investors.
In 2014, Tencent and 26 other investors, including Quest, Merus, Data Collective, Box Group and SV Angel, provided $2m in seed capital.
Founded in 2012, Amplitude operates a data analytics platform that it claims tracks more than 75 billion user behaviour events each month.
Amplitude intends to use the funding to hire new staff, further develop its platform and boost sales and marketing efforts.
Neeraj Agrawal, general partner at Battery Venture, will join Amplitude’s board.
