Teddy Himler has departed from his vice-president role at internet and telecommunications group SoftBank and joined Singapore-headquartered venture capital firm Antler.
Antler has appointed Himler a US-based global partner of investments in its later-stage investment team. The appoinment was disclosed as the firm raised $300m in capital from investors including insurer Phoenix Group, asset manager Schroders and the Danish government-backed Vækstfonden.
SoftBank Group International (SBGI) hired Himler in 2018 and tasked him with conducting investments, mergers and acquisitions transactions and fundraising efforts.
The investments during his SBGI stint included online insurer Lemonade, endpoint cybersecurity technology developer Cybereason and Berkshire Grey, which provides robotic fulfilment systems. Global Corporate Venturing included Himler in the inaugural Emerging Leaders roster in 2020.
Before SBIG, Himler had been a principal for more than two years from 2016 at Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of mass media group Comcast. He helped back online wedding registry Zola, entertainment network Cheddar, veterinarian service PetCoach and digital locksmith KeyMe.
Himler had previously been vice-president at SoftBank Group for nearly three years from 2013 where he helped lead Southeast Asia investments through the now-idle SoftBank Capital unit, in companies including e-commerce marketplace Tokopedia (now GoTo), ride hailing service Grab and media and events group Tech in Asia.
