AOL Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet services provider AOL, has joined a large consortium investing $1m in the seed round for anti-email spam service Impermium having earlier in the year hired someone for its west coast of America office.
Alongside AOL Ventures in the Impermium round were venture capital firms Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures, Freestyle Capital, Greylock Discovery Fund and Morado Ventures, and angel investors Archimedes Capital and Embarcadero Ventures.
News provider AllThingsD said former Google employee Adam Smith had joined AOL Ventures on the west coast. AOL Ventures’ team had previously been based in New York.
