Pharmacy chain Apotek Hjärtat has participated in a SEK 280m ($32.4m) round for Sweden-based digital healthcare provider Min Doktor, Nordic 9 has reported.
Financial services firm Swedbank Robur acquired a significant equity stake in Min Doktor through the round, according to Nordic 9. It also featured family owned investment fund Carl Westin and venture capital firm EQT Ventures.
Founded in 2013, Min Doktor provides healthcare services through online platforms as well as in person. It will use the new funding to improve its network of clinics and healthcare centres, having secured $8m of convertible debt financing from its owners in February this year.
Apotek Hjärtat, a subsidiary of health and food-focused retailer ICA Gruppen, had paid $37.4m for a 42% stake in Min Doktor through a September 2018 deal that involved a partnership between the latter and Apotek Hjärtat’s drop-in clinic business, Minutklinikens.
Min Doktor received $24.7m in a 2017 series B round led by EQT Ventures, with participation from HealthCap, Inbox Capital and private investors including Filip Engelbert and Jonas Nordlander.
The company raised $4.9m in December 2016 from its chairman Christian W Jansson as well as EQT Ventures, Engelbert and Nordlander, 10 months after it pulled in $4.6m from EQT and existing backers. Inbox Capital and various angel investors had supplied $2.6m in 2015.
