Travel services provider JTB Corporation has led a series B round sized at more than $30m for US-based endpoint protection software provider AppGuard.
AppGuard, which is operated by Japan-headquartered cybersecurity software producer Blue Planet-Works, has created a product that uses what it calls dynamic isolation technology to protect against cyber breaches and malware at endpoint.
The series B cash will be used to acquire secure video communication KeepTree, for an undisclosed amount. KeepTree chief executive Jon Loew will take the same position at AppGuard and a board seat at Blue Planet-Works through the deal.
Loew said: “Today’s sophisticated security threats have rendered traditional detection-based security software virtually useless and has forced the world to look for revolutionary new endpoint security solutions like AppGuard.
“AppGuard’s dynamic isolation approach to cybersecurity is the definition of disruptive. There isn’t a large enterprise out there who would not benefit from our technology.”
AppGuard also revealed that its parent company raised more than $65m from Japan-based corprates including Dai Ichi Life Insurance, aviation group ANA Airlines and advertising firm Dentsu in June this year.
