Apsalar, a US-based mobile advertising and analytics company, has closed a $9m series B round of financing led by early stage venture capital firm DCM, with participation from venture capital firm Correlation Ventures and existing investors, including ThomVest Ventures, the investment vehicle of Peter Thomson, director of media company Thomson Reuters, and venture capital firm DN Capital.
Apsalar will use the funding to invest further in its technology and to expand its marketing and sales programmes.
Previously, Apsalar raised a $5m series A round in September 2011 and seed funding of below $1 million prior to that.
Apsalar provides a mobile demand-side platform (DSP), using 1st party behavioural data on mobile app users, for direct marketers and agencies to buy ads across networks and real-time bidding exchanges. Apsalar also provides analytics to measure the return on investment (ROI) of mobile campaigns.
Michael Oiknine, chief executive officer and co-founder of Apsalar, said: “There is a tangible need in the market right now for high-ROI mobile user acquisition, and we are excited to be able to fill that need.”
Osuke Honda, partner at DCM, said: “Apsalar is the leader in ROI-driven mobile user acquisition. They are unique in their ability to identify high value and highly engaged mobile users, and they are the only company that combines real time mobile analytics with attribution and a mobile DSP with 1st party data.”
Apsalar was founded in 2010.
