Israel-based software development platform Aqua Security attracted $25m in series B funding on Tuesday from backers including Microsoft Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of software company Microsoft.
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, while TLV Ventures and Shlomo Kramer also supplied cash.
Aqua Security, which emerged from stealth in May 2016 and rebranded from its original name Scalock, has developed a platform that enables companies to develop applications in secure environments known as containers.
The platform uses a combination of machine learning, threat research and finely-tuned default settings to maintain the security of these container-based applications for their entire lifecycle.
The money will allow Aqua Security to strengthen its market position and cope with demand.
Microsoft Ventures previously led a $9m series A round in September 2016, with participation from TLV and Shlomo Kramer. The latter two had earlier injected a total of $4.5m in seed funding.
