Atieva, a US-based developer of battery technologies, has raised $24m, according to news provider VentureWire.
Atieva’s website was down awaiting an update and there was no regulatory filing. Japan-based financial services group Mitsui joined the consortium as a new investor, alongside venture capital firms Venrock and Tsing Capital, VentureWire said.
Atieva previously raised $7m at the end of 2009 from China Environment Fund III, which is managed by Tsing and Venrock, which news provider GigaOm said had invested less than $10m in the company’s first round of financing.
Along with the funding, Atieva has partnered with China-based lithium-ion battery manufacturer Tianjin Lishen Battery for a fleet of electric buses, VentureWire said.
