Australia-based enterprise software producer Atlassian is set to host a second product development programme through its in-house startup incubator, Point A, TechCrunch has reported.
Founded in 2002, Atlassian provides a suite of enterprise software products including software development platform Jira and online collaboration platform Confluence.
The unit, which launched in 2019, enables Atlassian’s employees to submit ideas about ways to improve the company’s products through a competition format. Employees who submit the most successful pitches receive funding, time away from their regular role and coaching from executives.
The company is already reviewing ideas for the next iteration of the programme and plans to host a pitch day. Point A is run by Steve Goldsmith, head of product and integrations at Atlassian while co-CEOs Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar are involved in the judging process for the competition.
Point A has evaluated 35 potential projects for the first programme, of which nine were selected and four were developed into full products. One of those products, the Jira Work Management tool, was released last week.
